  I meant no more offence than you did posting your pro-jehovahite article. You may have noticed the teachings of the Brooklyn bible scholars aren't much comfort to people sheltering here.

  I have good news and bad news for ya Bro.Bill. Bad news is the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society teach completely discredited erroneous doctrine. Good news is that there is life after 'spiritual death'. At the risk of you labeling me a pedantic nit pickerer another term that freaks me out is 'those aware of their spiritual need' .. it's such a judgemental term, i can't help feeling a tad nausious when i hear it. I think you'd be hard pressed to find anyone around here that isn't accutely aware of their inner self and its various needs. (being raised in a corrosive kingdom hall atmosphere the constant self examination does that to a bloke)

  PS: While we're being honest with each other, your whole post saddened me deeply. It is so riddled with watchtowerisms i'd find it hard to post objectively .. thus my short reply and 'fair thee well' best wishes on your spiritual journey bill, i sincerly mean that. It's a glorious day outside, this is no time for feud'n over religion :)

  one more topic.. my wife just called up to tell me that she was over my parents before a doctor's visit, chatting with my mother, when my crazed jw father threw my small 14 year old brother down the stairs and punched him for not wanting to study.. i've been beat, thrown down stairs, had potted plants thrown at me, chased around the house, and such, for not wanting to do the family study.. this is what the "truth" does to people, all you loyal jw's....take note...... (i'm so angry i'm shaking).

  I had violent jw parents ashitika and josephus is right, a bastard is a bastard no matter what persuasion.

  I don't know your circumstance but i would definitely go 'round and confront the retard, man to man while the rage still fermented within me.

  perhaps you can take your brother in for a spell?

  Wouldn't it be good if your brother could relate his experience from the platform with dad in the audience. (ah in a perfect world)

  i don't want to spam, but i just wanted to post one more topic tonite.

  i was reading bridgette's post, and was moved, but not just because of what she said...mommy made a comment about us being friends here, and you know what...i feel that way too.. sometimes, even though i have a wife who left the jw's with me, i feel so damn isolated and alone, that i'm the only strong one among a bunch of children, who all fight and tear at each other....this is one place i feel semi-normal again.. it's so hard to befriend people now.

  i have so much trouble talking to people and interacting socially with people, although i've been told i'm agreeable to be around.. i don't know, i'm exhausted from thinking.

  Bad? isn't that when you leave your dirty socks under the couch for three weeks? what about when you spill milk on the carpet but shrug and think 'i'll fix that in the morning'.

  real bad? .. isn't that when you hurt someone? .. like throwing a petrol bomb through their catholic window.

  Today my God is refreshingly cold in a long tall glass with milk, coffee, vanilla icecream and a sprinkling of chocolate on top. My point being that, what makes you think your trinity is any more a god than my quadrinity?

  At least I admit making my God with fresh ingredients not a recipy handed down from ancient sumner. (please name something original about christianity and i may get interested)

  Only Fools And Horses Xmas Special

  it's 5 years since dellboy and rodney made their last episode.

  i thought that fans may be interested to know that they are actually filming a 3 part christmas special here in wsm right now as i post this.. david jason (dellboy) paid my local pub a visit last time he was here, i actually nodded to him as though he was a regular before it sank in who he was.. maybe he will turn up again, hope he doesn't bring that plonker with him......!.

  Anyone know what became of a series called something like "best of the summer wine"* It was a comedy set in early 20th century Yorkshire and was about the adventures of 3 or 4 town lads comming of age as the war loomed.

  I have an extensive collection of Bwitish comedy's and would love the videos of that show.

  Bill,

  You have my sympathy over what you've been through. None of us get through life without experiencing it's pain and heartache. You pressed many 'cult indoctrination' words in your post and one that keeps bugging me is the term family 'arrangement'. To this old sentimentalest that term is much to mechanical and cold to describe the life and relationships i shared with three wonderfull women for 20 odd years.

  'Arrangement' implies an obligation beyond pure love and that might work well for patriachal antitypes but it isn't for men, women and children held together by unconditional love. Uncondditional love is something very rarely mentioned amoungst Jehovah's Witnesses and even more rarely understood.

  Where's the Worldly Witness

  a few months back there was a very busy poster called ww (worldly witness).

  i was thinking about his rise and fall today, and this is where it took me.. whether jehovah's witnesses as individuals are 'part of the world' or not, the billion-dollar corporations which administer jw activity, receive their donations, their devotion, and their unquestioning obedience, cannot easily be described as "no part of the world".

  and as for day-to-day jw culture, many of us who have spent a few years on the 'inside' know that many things there change roughly in line with society at large - 'the world'.
